Can't post one twin without the other! Wyatt was all smiles yesterday for his joint senior session with Jared, although of course I made him try some serious faces too (which often just result in laughter, but sometimes that's half the point too - the secret's out 😄). Both these boys were rock stars to work with and I'm excited to share part II of these sneak peeks! 😊

Can you do a joint shoot with your sibling (or a friend)? 📷 Of course! It's a great way to maximize your session time, spend some quality time together, and (of course) get some fun pictures with each other too 😀 Twins Jared and Wyatt have pretty darn different personalities, but there was plenty of time for both of them (and their adorable pup, Calvin 😍) to shine at a bunch of locations we hit up over three hours. The only sad part? Their dad's Camaro chose that exact day to break down (of all days!!) so we couldn't do the cool car shots we planned 😢🚕 Anyway, here's a sneak peek of part I of this great session, starring Jared!

Looook at that floof! I was so glad Lincoln brought his adorable only slightly chaotic pup Lucy to his senior session Sunday...and that we got such a beautiful spring evening after so much Idaho weather weathering (there wasn't even any wind, can you believe it?? 🤯). Lincoln is the third senior in his family I'd photographed (+ a family session once upon a time!), so reuniting with them felt like catching up with old friends 😊 This guy has such an easy natural smile and was in such positive spirits about senior photos (definitely not always the norm for senior boys 😄), and I had the best time. Happy #seniorsunday y'all...because college seniors count too! I had a lovely time with Gabbi and her sweet pup Angel wandering BSU campus Thursday on a chilly but at least not CRAZY-windy evening, and it was so good to see those blossoms in full blossom mode again 😍🌸 Less good: a campus event taking over half the iconic B (come on people, it's grad photo season, don't block the B!), but with a little strategic composition and a little more strategic editing, we made it look like we had the B all to ourselves. And swipe for little miss Angel's adorable tiny graduation hat to celebrate her human's achievement! 🎓

It's senior session season!! The sun is shining, the leaves are just coming out again, the chance of snow is low (but never zero 😅), and the countdown is on until graduation 😁 It was a wee bit chilly for Cooper's photos at the Depot on Wednesday, but you'd never know based on that great smile and lack of goosebumps on his arms! This kid is an academic badass and headed off to the east coast for college to accomplish great things, and I was honored to take his photos 😊 Here's a sneak peek!

Do you know what this time of year is great for, besides avoiding spring cleaning? 🧹 Some digital spring cleaning like updating your headshots, especially if you A) have never had them taken professionally, B) weren't happy with your previous set, or C) your current one is about 10 years old 😄 (Trust me, I hear all three answers all the time!) The sun is out, nature is naturing, and you can get a beautiful glow like the lovely Augustine here at Kathryn Albertson Park yesterday! April dates still available 😊

Is it a li'l weird to be putting on snow boots on the first 70-degree day of the year? 🥵❄️🤔 I could tell Bodie was a little skeptical when I expounded on the massive amount of snow up the road (100" as of last week!) when it's so warm and snowless in Boise, but we rounded the final corner to our destination and were immediately in a different world compared to the valley 🌲 You want a snow session, you get a snow session! 😁 What a cool kid - thanks for slipping, sliding, and postholing through the winter wonderland with me, Bodie! 😊

👕T-shirt season is making a guest appearance this week! ☀️ And after that comes wind season...and maybe third winter...oh, you never know with Idaho 😄 Anyway, I'm looking forward to some fantastic spring conditions for this week's sessions (starting with...a snow session tonight?! Because it's still winter in the mountains! ❄️), but in the meantime, here's a throwback of the gorgeous Olivia at one of my favorite early season locations: JUMP + BoDo 😊 April slots still available, links in bio to book!

🌷 What's that flower and when does it bloom?!🌸🌼 In honor of the first day of spring yesterday (‼️), here's my handy-dandy guide to what's blooming when and where to find it 😁 Obviously exact dates are subject to change with the wildly unpredictable Idaho weather (2023 was so cold that blooms were legit about 3 weeks later than they usually are! 😳), but rough guides are still helpful. Excited for all the spring color about to explode!! 🌈 ✨ FORSYTHIA ✨ Those golden yellow bushes! Find them mostly at Kathryn Albertson Park starting late March through early April. ✨ TULIPS & DAFFODILS ✨ Those beautiful bulbs! Find them all over landscaping downtown, but particularly at the Center on the Grove and Hyde Park starting late March through April. ✨ BLOSSOMS ✨ Those delicate flowers on the trees! The pinks are often thundercloud plums and pop open by the 2nd week of April. If it's a white blossom that looks prettier than it smells 🤢, it's probably Bradford pear. Best blossoms are at Kathryn Albertson Park and downtown along 9th St and Grove Plaza, or BSU campus! ✨ ARROWLEAF BALSAMROOT ✨ Those yellow flowers in the foothills that look like small sunflowers! Find them everywhere in the hills (particularly at the Military Reserve on Eagle Ridge), usually starting by late April. ✨ LUPINE ✨ Those purple, white, and sometimes pink stalks in the hills! Find them at select places in the foothills such as the Highland-Cobb loop and Military Reserve starting early May. ✨ LILAC ✨ Those light purple flowers on shrubs! Find them mostly at Kathryn Albertson Park starting early May through the end of the month. ✨ BACHELOR BUTTONS ✨ Those small deep blue flowers with a carnation-like shape! Find them everywhere in the foothills but particularly the Military Reserve. They're actually invasive so we shouldn't like them, but they sure are pretty :) ✨ CAMAS LILIES ✨ Those magical marsh flowers that look like a sea of blue-purple! Find them in marshy fields between Mountain Home and Fairfield around Memorial Day weekend thru early June, particularly at Centennial Marsh.

March always delivers on the crazy wind, and the Military Reserve always delivers on the scenery (even when the leaves are still at least a month out!), and put the two together and you have some blustery foothills magic 😄 This sweet family only had a short window for photos together (the joys of kids getting older and moving out of state!) and I was so glad we got a lovely sunny day in their timeframe to capture their golden hour dreams 🧡 Here's a sneak peek from yesterday!

🥰 Andrew & Terri 💍 As some of you know, I quiet-quit photographing weddings at the end of 2023 with no regrets, but when Andrew contacted me pitching their micro-wedding at their lovely home in Star as mostly a couples portrait session - just with a quick ceremony thrown in! - I couldn't resist 😄 He even sent me a couple pictures of the two of them so I could see how sweet they were together and then I was really sold! Anyway, I don't plan on coming out of wedding photographer retirement anytime soon, but these two were pretty darn cute and it was an honor to photograph them in their finery on their special day 😍 Here's a sneak peek!

Two things are certain on family sessions with little ones in March: kiddos are gonna kiddo, and the weather is gonna weather! The mild forecast turned very Idaho midway through our shoot Friday with a spontaneous hail storm, but fortunately it was short-lived and these cuties took it all in stride 😎 Of course an hour is a long time for tiny peeps to stay focused (even with the hail to keep them entertained!), so we kept them giggling with hugs, tickles, swinging, sword fights with sticks, and made it through with barely any wailing 😁 Here's a sneak peek!

✨ LOCATION SPOTLIGHT: Swan Falls ✨ Not that I

✨ LOCATION SPOTLIGHT: Swan Falls ✨ Not that I've seen swans nor anyone fall down here (thankfully!), but the Swan Falls Dam area by the Snake River south of Boise is one of those epic locations that I recommend to anyone willing to drive a little! 😍 Especially this time of year when tree-heavy locations are not exactly at their finest, the canyon rim, cool architecture of the dam, and beautiful Owyhee Mountains in the background make this spot a perfect choice especially for adventurous outdoorsy folks, as demonstrated by Isaac at his senior session around this time last year!

☀️ Sunshine in the city 🌇 Beautiful Clara had probably THE best day of the year so far for her senior photos (mid-60s and sunny WITHOUT outrageous wind gusts? in March?! 🤯), and you'd barely miss the leaves on the trees with all the colors we found at JUMP 🌈 And those perfect cute outfits - gorgeous choices ❤️ Thanks so much for shooting with me Clara, here's a sneak peek!
