A winter without hardly any snow need not be entirely drab and colorless. Nature may be dormant, but with the right light (and right Photoshop) it can still be beautiful.
Part of me is a little sad every time I convert a photo to black and white. All that lovely color, gone in an instance – it’s a hard decision. However, there’s a reason black and white portraits have endured so long, with their timeless elegance that color simply can’t match. And so without further ado, I present you with the start of a multi-part series of black and white portraiture. Some shots are new and some you may have seen before…but not like this.
You’ve seen the individual portraits of Kelsey and Micha – now let’s take a look at the photos of them together that we shot a couple weeks ago outside around downtown Boise and inside the Idaho capitol building!
Ten adults and thirteen kids – all together, the Ross extended family is quite a crowd! We shot these family portraits outside the Boise Train Depot right before Christmas, and despite the chill in the air, the sun peeked out just enough and no one was too badly frozen.
