When the air smells like rain and soil instead of campfire all day every day 😍🌧🚫🔥 The seasons are shifting and it's FINALLY starting to feel like fall out there, especially in the mountains, and I'm readier than I've ever been after this summer! We went back and forth on whether we should shoot Luke's session Wednesday or Thursday with the rainy forecast, and I'm so glad we opted for last night...Wednesday's rain cleared out every single bit of smoke, and by Thursday evening we even got some sun peeking out! Luke had a great time climbing some granite (his mom told me early in the session that he could climb anything and constantly nearly gives her a heart attack doing so 😆), I was in love with all the vibrant red brush giving early fall, it didn't rain on us one bit...what a great session 😊 Bring on ALL the fall, preferably up in the mountains plz! 😁

Sept/Oct SOLD OUT with weekends booked until December!! 🍂🍁 I know I've been a li'l absent from social media lately (I blame travel and the smoke, but let's face it, also my own dislike of social media 😆), but rest assured I'm still out shooting and that calendar has still been filling the heck up as it always does this time of year 😁 If you have your heart set on fall photos, I always keep a cancellation waitlist you can join, or I still have dates left the week of Nov 4 and we usually still have some leaves by then, but they'll go quickly (both the leaves and the dates 🙃). Mid to late Nov as well as Dec dates are still options too, especially for sessions centered more around the city or foothills 😊 Anyway, that's all, but on the topic of fall (because I can't just do a text post!), here's one of my favorite seniors from a couple years back repping the glory that is October in Boise! Excited to meet/reunite with my fall clients - see you all soon! 🧡💛

Ava!! 😍 This gorgeous girl had THE most perfect evening on Sunday for her senior shoot...beautiful, sunny, and best of all, smoke-free (which if you've been in Boise for one second this summer, is a minor miracle 😝). I loved her gorgeous classic outfits and was more than impressed by her ability to walk in heels on trail...no ankles were harmed in the making of these photos! Class of 2025 coming in strong!!! 🔥 Senior sessions are my favorite and Lisa's shoot last night was no exception...because just look at that gorgeous girl and equally gorgeous light! 😮 And that beautiful floaty purple dress...total princess vibes 👑 Thanks so much for sweating with me all over the park last night Lisa (mid-90s is better than 100+ but still hot 🥵) and running and twirling and giggling like a pro - here's a sneak peek ❤️

~Beach~ vibes 🏖, but make it Idaho 😁 These guys spend much of the summer on their boat at Lucky Peak, so it was only fitting that we head out there for family photos...and miraculously, after days of triple digits and heavy smoke, we had the most perfect clear non-sweaty evening for it yesterday 😊 So good to catch up with Bode and Ty after shooting both boys' senior photos over the last couple years! DID YOU KNOW...that wildfire smoke in the air can actually create the most lovely rosy glow for photos? 🔥☀️ The air quality may be, in a word, bad, but the upside is that it looks like perpetual sunset out there with beautiful reddish light that looks so so pretty on everyone...but particularly on lovely couple Rasika and Ankush, expecting their first baby girl this year 😍 Did you ever see such a gorgeous maternity gown, or such adorable tiny shoes? 🥲 Congrats to these two lovely people - here's a sneak peek from their Kathryn Albertson Park session on Sunday!

The feels when your body is sooo used to triple digits after the last few weeks that you start shivering in low 70s 😆🥶🤔 After the heatwave we've had lately, an abnormally cool day + a winding drive up Bogus Basin Rd to my favorite higher-elevation forest locations meant that Olivia was legitimately shivering at the beginning of our session Friday! 😮 Fortunately Mom and Rich were there with the hugs to keep her warm, and with a little skipping around and climbing of all the rocks (which Olivia has been doing since I first met her when she was 2!), we got the blood flowing a little better and had a wonderful session even with the smoky skies 😊 We'll just pretend that unhealthy haze is fog, right? Or not include the sky at all in photos - problem solved 😎 Here's a sneak peek from this sweet family!

Smoky days in the city...made much better by air-conditioned breaks and jumping into a pond at the end of the session 😁🔥💦 The sun legit looks like it's dying lately here in Boise with all the wildfire smoke, but fortunately from a photography perspective, it mostly just means a flattering rosy glow, and city sessions in particular are perfect for not being able to tell just how hazy the air really is! I LOVED all the ideas Devin and his mom brought to his senior session, from recreating an old family photo in the Linen District to hanging out all dapper-like at Western Proper 😎 And when we got close to the end of the session, nearly out of time, I so wanted to see Devin jump into Quinn's Pond in his suit that I totally didn't mind going a little over. 10/10 jumping, Devin, totally worth it 😄 Here's a sneak peek from this awesome session - bring on the rest of the class of 2025!

If you need me, I hope you don't actually need me, because I'll be off the grid climbing mountains the next few days!! 😁⛰🥾 Hang tight on those inquiries and I'll get back to you by early next week 😊 In the meantime, here's a smattering of me dramatically looking at things, goofing off, and trying not to fall off piles of rocks, which is a good summary of my hiking/climbing process in general. Another good summary of my climbing process is this front page article in Idaho Press that came out last year, which makes me sound cooler than I am (link in bio) 😁 Ask me about mountains on your next photoshoot with me if you're still curious, it's my favorite topic! (Or don't, because I'll talk your ear off 🙃) And whoa, look at me doing a post showing my face ~fOr ThE eNgAgEmEnT~...but you know, mostly showing the back of my head, because I'm a rebel like that 😎 See you next week, friends!

When it's 100+ degrees out and the entire west is on fire, indoors + AC sure sounds good! 🥵 We didn't want to subject anyone to the outdoors conditions in Boise right now, but particularly not tiny baby Eden, so we switched gears on the original park photoshoot idea and migrated into the stately capitol building...and everyone was a lot happier 😆 Little Eden did great on her first photoshoot, with very expressive eyebrows and only a few meltdowns, and was mostly just very fascinated by the huge building and so many new things! Here's a sneak peek from these three sweet generations of family ❤️

Ohhh the feelz when clients become friends and then when they're clients again you all have infinitely more fun together 😍 How could I say no when Claudia, now a hiking buddy and friend of mine, asked me to photograph her son's surprise proposal to his girlfriend up in Stanley, one of my favorite places?? We had a little bit of a stressful time keeping this iconic Stanley Lake dock clear so we'd have the perfect proposal framed by McGowan Peak and making sure Keirsten didn't suspect anything, but we made it happen 😎 And then got to celebrate with champagne, mooing cows, bugling elk, and a million mosquito friends over at this gorgeous meadow we'd scoped out a couple weeks ago accidentally coming back from a hiking/4x4ing adventure right at sunset 😁 Thank you so much Sanders fam for trusting me with your day - here's a sneak peek from this amazing session!

You know how a lot of photographers say their session was 🔥? Well, this session was...literally. We were about 10 minutes into this sweet family's shoot at a beautiful sunlit grove behind Merrill Park when a teen passerby proudly bragged "watch this!" to some friends and set the drifting cotton from the cottonwood trees on fire with his lighter, a few yards away from us. And the whole grove started lighting up 😳 Needless to say, we ran out of there in a hurry and dad Chad, a retired firefighter, immediately called 911 to get the fire department in and they got the blaze under control before it spread too much! And we managed to continue our shoot by the neighboring bridge and my favorite tree-lined path far out of the danger zone. But wow, that was a first for all of us! 😬 And if you go for a stroll behind the park and see a small scorched area, now you know. But thanks to these guys for staying cool under fire (literally!) and being patient sweethearts in general 😊 Here's a sneak peek!

Ginny & Grayden 💕 I always look forward to our annual session with these two, and little Mr Grayden was nothing but giggles this time around - just look at that twinkle in his eyes! And the teeny baseball cap! Oh man, what a cutie 😍 As usual Ginny was the sweetest and most patient with all the running around and planning on the fly that comes with chasing a toddler on photo-day ...and it certainly helped that it wasn't 90 degrees so we weren't sweating buckets as we followed Grayden on his adventure through the MK Nature Center! Look at those giggly squishy faces!! 😍 I've been photographing these cuties ever since it was just 22-month-old Lucia and her parents, and now with two younger siblings, she seems all but grown up! 😄 This family is the sweetest and most patient with all the chaos that goes with a group session for three littles, and I love the shots we got at Merrill Park on Friday, hugs and squishes and tickles and skipping combined - here's a sneak peek! ❤️
