People who bring props to their portrait sessions are my favorite people. ย Not only did 2014 senior Noah bring two guitars to his photoshoot by the Boise River in Eagle, but his family’s amazing vintage car. ย (Is a car too big to count as a prop?) ย All that variety along with the perfect fall color made for some great shots, and Noah looked like he belonged on an album cover. ย Check out some favorites from his session below!
I’m a pretty big fan of autumn and a pretty big fan of travel adventures (also, surprise surprise, a pretty big fan of photography), soย when I had the opportunity to extend a wedding photography trip to McCall over the entire weekend at the beginning of the October, no way I was going to back out! ย As it turns out, I was a little early for peak fall foliage and didn’t find quite as much as I was hoping for, but there were some pretty beautiful sights all around Payette Lake and a few south around Lake Cascade nonetheless, including a very friendly red fox. ย Check out some favorites below!

If ever there were a classic photographer pilgrimage destination in the northwestern US, the Palouse is it. ย The undulating multi-colored hills make for one of the most picturesque landscapes imaginable and a perpetual landscape photographer favorite. ย Particularly in the spring, the hills light up like magic at sunrise and sunset, drawing shutterbugs from around the world. ย One of the best and most classic views is from Steptoe Butte State Park near Colfax, Washington, an easy hour’s drive if you’re coming from the Idaho side in Moscow. ย As you drive round and round the narrow looping road that leads up to the summit of the butte, you start to see the incredible panoramic views of the farmland below stretched out like patchwork…and you might even get some stellar wildflowers on the butte itself. ย Bring a sturdy tripod, though – it is windy up there!ย Take a look at some of my favorites from my expedition over Memorial Day this year:
