Don’t let the seemingly close distance fool you. Even though Silver City, Idaho, is a mere 72 miles southwest of Boise, the last 15 or so miles of the journey take place on a narrow dirt road winding through the mountains – getting to this tiny ghost town is quite the trek! The ramshackle buildings, eyebrow-raising signage, and lonesome feel make the place a unique destination worth the visit, however. Take a look!
Sick of the non-wintry winter here in Boise? Get your fill of ice and snow with a continuation of the shots from McCall’s annual winter carnival. If you didn’t catch the first part, you can get up to speed on what’s already been posted here. Enjoy!
Though it may not boast majestic mountains like its neighbor Stanley, small-town McCall Idaho draws a decent crowd year round with scenic Payette Lake and quaint shops. This crowd multiplies drastically for McCall’s annual winter carnival, featuring vendors, live music, and (most importantly) incredible snow sculptures. Here’s a sampling of the scene from when I attended the carnival last weekend (and, as always, keep an eye out for part II!).
Too many HDR-toned photos? Impossible! That’s why we’re up to the fourth installment in the series (you can catch up on parts I, II, and III if you’re behind), with more on the way. Enjoy, and as always, be sure to click on the photos for larger versions to appreciate all the details.
