Table Rock is one of Boise’s most prominent landmarks, rising above the valley with its immediately-identifiable table-like summit. While the giant cross has been a constant source of controversy as long as I can remember, there’s no denying that whatever your faith, it makes for a pretty sight, especially with storm clouds and golden hour light. With all the rain lately, I bet the trail leading up to the summit is currently closed due to mud, but last week it was dry as a bone and a pleasant hike to the top!
Considering it took the BBC five hours to cover this British classic of mistaken first impressions, Knock ‘Em Dead Dinner Theatre’s tackling Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice in just about two and a half hours is no small feat! Earlier this year, I brought you the production poster for the play; today you get to see photos from the performance itself. Photomatix is one of those photo-processing pieces of software where once you’ve seen the results, you can easily pick out the photos edited with it ever after. As a tool for what’s called “tonemapping” (in simple terms, equalizing shadows and highlights to bring out as much detail as possible), it produces extremely distinctive, painterly, vaguely surreal results…like the following images.

May 3rd marked Boise’s fifth annual “Art at The Modern,” a collection of art installations and performance art pieces hosted in retro-styled rooms at The Modern Hotel. If you missed the event, here’s a peek inside the rooms and a look at some of the Treasure Valley residents in attendance. Enjoy!
