Calico Ghost Town, California

What is it about ghost towns we find so fascinating? I’m sure that could be a rich topic for a research piece somewhere, but I’ll stick with determining that whatever the draw, I’m certainly not immune to it. Calico Ghost Town outside Barstow, California, has a kitschy side to it but so many photo ops that I didn’t mind in the least. It may not be 100% authentic, but it’s so picturesque in a ghostly, abandoned Old West sort of way that it’s worth a visit if you’re in the area.
