When I returned to Boise at the end of April after a few weeks out of town, it was a wonderful change to see everything suddenly leafed out and green – a far cry from when I’d left and now perfect conditions for portraits! Eagle 2015 senior Daniel got to cash in on the gorgeous conditions with his early May session by the river outside Merrill Park. Check out some favorites from his photoshoot below!

Sunny and nearly 60 in mid-Nov with no wind?! 😮

Sunny and nearly 60 in mid-Nov with no wind?! 😮 AND leaves still on the trees?!? 🤯🍁 I was so happy Emerson and his dad were down to move their session from next week (cold...and cloudy...and bad) to yesterday and give us some of the best conditions of the week, and what a perfect day 😊 We had the best time wandering downtown through all the hidden alcoves (you see Boise in a whole new light when you're on a hunt for photoshoot locations!) and testing Emerson's balance on a couple semi-precarious ledges 😄 And that light glowing off the capitol building at the end of our session for the lacrosse photos - how cool! Here's a sneak peek from this great shoot 😎

Look at these sweethearts 😍🍁 Last year Asher was a chubby-cheeked smiley stationary baby - this year he was a chubby-cheeked agent of chaos toddler on the run at all times 😆 His poor parents were at their wits' end doing everything they could to get Asher's attention and some giggles out of him, but kiddos are going to kiddo and this little dude was just not in the mood. So I chased him around and we did what we could, and you'd never know half our session was wailing and sighing 😄 If it ever seems like you're the only one with kids who suddenly dig in their heels just for photo day: nope! You're not ❤️ You just get to see the non-meltdown highlights from everyone else's sessions 😊 Here's a sneak peek!

Fall is still hanging on out there! 🧡🍁💛 The 2nd week of November is about the time those pretty leaves come to an end, but fortunately we haven't gotten a mega cold snap or wind storm lately and conditions by the river are still going strong...which was great news for beautiful Liv's session with her family on Saturday 😊 I was so glad she brought her cello for a few shots (2nd cellist I've gotten to photograph in a week and a half!) and that we got such an amazing sunset gracing our final photos! And mild non-windy conditions this time of year?! Yes plz, even if it meant half of Eagle was also out enjoying the beautiful day 😄 Here's a sneak peek from this lovely shoot!

Is Throwback Friday a thing? 🤔 No? Well, we're making it a thing today anyway because I've never been good at trends 😁 These guys were some of my very early clients waaaay back in 2012 (possibly from when I ran a deal on LivingSocial, which was a Groupon alternative of the time...is Groupon even still a thing?), and I was so thrilled to hear from them again and see how their family has grown! Back at our first shoot they only had little Cruz who was a year and a half at the time...and now look at them with three kiddos almost all grown up 😮 And I loved their idea of combining their own family photos with a big group family shot with their business partners, and letting each family take a few of their own shots too! A week and a half ago it was 70; now it's...snowy?

A week and a half ago it was 70; now it's...snowy?! 😱❄️🤔 Okay, maybe not totally fair comparing valley temps to up in the mountains at nearly 6000', but still, quite the change 😄 The chilly conditions and dusting of snow were perfect for senior Devin though who spends a lot of his life on the ice anyway, so he felt right at home - he didn't even take his mom up on her offer of hand warmers or a puffy jacket between shots! So glad we got a beautiful sunny non-windy day for his session yesterday 😊 Thanks for being an excellent model Devin, here's a sneak peek!

When the sky looks doomy out of nowhere and threat

When the sky looks doomy out of nowhere and threatening rain/hail and the wind gusts are gusting...but they die down just in time for a great and not TOO freezing senior session 😅 I almost thought I'd made the wrong judgment call telling Emilio and his mom our weather would be just fine yesterday, but I'm glad we went for it and didn't let the dark skies discourage us - we even got a little sunshine! ☀️ This kid has the best easy authentic smile and I was so glad Kathryn Albertson Park still had a good number of leaves left, even if you have to hunt for them in unexpected places by this time of the year 😊 Thanks Emilio for powering through the weather with grace and a positive attitude...and for even being willing to do a couple photos in short sleeves despite the temps in the 40s 🥶 Here's a sneak peek, and no I did not actually Photoshop off your mustache like your mom and I were joking about! 😆

When it's early November and in the 40s out but you just really really wanted to be barefoot in the river 😄🥶 Jenna had a vision to pull off and was determined to make it happen even if it meant her toes temporarily going numb, and holy moly did it yield epic results! 😱 That dress with the fall color and the moody dramatic sky...WOW. Neighboring Kathryn Albertson Park wasn't looking too shabby either, even if by this time of year we're hunting in lesser-known corners for the best foliage still hanging on 😊 Here's a sneak peek from this amazing senior session yesterday!

Samantha!! ❤️❤️ I had the best time working with this beautiful girl Wednesday and hearing all about her many hobbies - cello, guitar, lifeguarding, and water polo?! Talk about a busy schedule! The leaves were looking picture-perfect at Julia Davis with not even a single other photoshoot in sight, and of course we had to amble over to the heart of downtown for the 2nd half of Samantha's session, since she spends so much of her time there as a Boise High student 😊 We even got some photos outside iconic Flying M and Samantha's mom grabbed her a coffee as both a prop and a handwarmer (it's getting a li'l cold out there, guys 🥶). What a fun session - here's a sneak peek!

The feels when it was just in the 70s over the wee

The feels when it was just in the 70s over the weekend but dropped 20 degrees for your session and the wind tries its best to destroy your cool hair every chance it gets 🤪 Poor Cason was battling some truly blustery conditions Tuesday but handled it all with grace and amazing smoldery modeling skills...and on the plus side, we actually had some sunshine and no rain, which is the most you can hope for this late in October! This guy has the coolest car and chill demeanor, and I so appreciated his go-with-the-flow attitude waiting out wind gusts...and his mom being a 10/10 lighting assistant and keeping my softbox from taking flight 😁 Here's a sneak peek from this chilly downtown shoot!

All kinds of animals end up in our photoshoots: I've worked with dogs, cats, horses, even a duck named James Pond a few years back 🦆 But three horses, two dogs, and a few cows? I think Trevor's session might take the cake for most animal-heavy senior shoot! While the cows didn't make it into this preview (they were feeling feisty and suspicious of the camera 😆), we got some amazing shots of Trevor on his family's farm out in Melba with an epic background of storms over the Owyhees - no composited skies here, just Idaho being Idaho 😎 Thanks Trevor for sharing your beautiful property with me and looking so cool leaning against silos, climbing hay bales, and trying to get your horses to pay attention and stop munching grass 😄 Here's a sneak peek!

Kennedy about 5 minutes of posing into her session: "This is FUN!!! 😁" And you could totally tell - this beautiful girl was giggling and grinning all over the place. The only time that smile faltered was when I asked her to try a serious face (which she absolutely rocked - look at that smolder 😎) and when a bunch of ladybugs on the walls of the Depot really wanted to be her friend 🐞 (Spoiler alert, the feeling was not mutual...poor Kennedy 😄) Thanks for an amazing shoot and all the giggles, Kennedy, here's a sneak peek! ❤️

Can we get a little bit country with family photos? 🤠 Of course! This beautiful location in Hidden Springs is one of my favorites for both a slightly western look AND some gorgeous fall color...and as a bonus, you might get to admire the bunnies and goats staring inquisitively over at us at the neighboring old farmstead 😄 These guys are the sweetest and had the cutest outfits, and even though the sun chose not to make much of an appearance, we still got some vibrant color and adorable shots - here's a sneak peek! 😊

The feels when it's your 5th session with a family so they feel like old friends...but they're also totally on to most of your posing prompts and you can't surprise them with anything 😄 These guys are the sweetest and always keep me cracking up with their antics (okay but mostly Jordan 🙃), and it's been wonderful watching their journey over the years with Riley now in college and Jordan sprouting up a good half-foot between last year's session and now! Their BSU-themed wardrobe was perfect against all the gold of Cottonwood Creek and we even managed to avoid getting run over by bikers, which if you're at the Military Reserve this time of year, you know is an accomplishment in itself 😬 Here's a sneak peek from Thursday!

Who says you can only have gorgeous results on sunny days? ☁️🍂 The further we get into the fall, the greater the odds we have weather to contend with, but sometimes overcast skies bring even more vibrant fall colors - case in point, gorgeous Ellery's session here yesterday! It was a nailbiter down to the wire on whether we could beat the rain or needed to reschedule, but fortunately this girl and her mom were the sweetest about working around the forecast and made an earlier session work...meaning we only got blasted by wind for the last half-hour of her session and avoided the rain entirely 🙏 You can tell Ellery has a passion for fashion with all the perfect outfits she chose, and I loved the infectious joy she brought to her session - I was giggling right along with her the whole time ❤️ Here's a sneak peek!

Those colors are just glowing lately even on cloudy days 😍🍂 I was so happy Nicole picked one of my favorite underrated locations (and the most photogenic bridge in Boise, according to my 100% objective assessment 😁), because with that absolute carpet of bright red leaves, it just screams FALL on every level 🧡 This gorgeous girl was the giggliest and could barely keep a straight face through some of our serious poses, but she did great and was the best sport about having leaves thrown at her, embedding herself in a shrub, and navigating tippy rocks to catch the glow over the river at sunset 😊 Thanks for a wonderful shoot Nicole, here's a sneak peek from yesterday!

Glowy autumn light in the mountains 😍☀️⛰ It's a whole other world of golden aspens and bright red brush up above treeline (and also a solid 15 degrees colder, brr 🥶), and the gorgeous setting was perfect for these sweeties! I had the strongest sense of deja vu since we'd done our last photoshoot together in this exact same spot almost exactly a year ago...except for the fact that there's a new addition to the family for 2024 and the girls now have a baby brother to dote on ❤️ Here's a sneak peek from this Saturday session!
