Jesse caught the Military Reserve Park in full golden autumn splendor at Cottonwood Creek for his senior session last November! We migrated up to Shaw Mountain Road later to grab a few shots with his great truck, and even had a few minutes to finish out the session up by Table Rock – now that’s variety for you. Highlights below!

DID YOU KNOW spring session bookings are OPEN? 🌸😮🌹 Probably not, because I've been really really bad about updating my social media since Christmas 🙃 Anyway, the days are getting longer, the temperatures are going up, and before you know it, it'll be sundress season with the lilacs like at gorgeous Tyanna's early May session here! Seniors, families, engagements, headshots - all booking now through Memorial Day, with links in my bio 😊 And if snow is more your vibe, yes, we'll still have a ton of that in the mountains for a while too, so get on the calendar soon for those winter wonderland shots ❄️ More new session sneak peeks + warm weather throwbacks coming soon as I remind myself that social media is a thing and ease back in! 😁

There's "cold-tolerant" and then there's "roll up

There's "cold-tolerant" and then there's "roll up the shirt sleeves of your already thin dress shirt in 25-degree + wind chill" cold-tolerant...and if you haven't guessed, Chase falls into the latter category 😄 Last week brought some pretty darn arctic temps to Boise (it was 4 one morning!! 🤯), but on the plus side, the snow we got in the valley actually stuck around a while, meaning we could make Chase's snow session dreams come true without heading to the mountains 😊 And man was he a trooper sticking it out the entire hour, numb hands and all 🥶 Thanks for a wonderful session Chase, here's a sneak peek!!

Winter photoshoots have so much going for them - no crowds, beautiful light reflecting off the snow, magical forest vibes - but sometimes winter winters a little too hard and it's 19 degrees out and everybody's an icicle within 5 minutes 😄 And when that breeze picked up even a little... 🥶🥶 Fortunately these guys are a ski family and used to the cold, and they toughed it out with smiles and only a little teeth-chattering, and we got some beautiful senior photos in the mix as well 😊 Here's a sneak peek from Sunday!

Happy 2025!! 🥳 What's that you say, it's been 2025 for nearly two weeks and that's a lifetime in social media years and I'm way behind the times as usual? ....yup! 😁 Anyway, I can't think of a better session to kick off this year's senior shoots than Aria's amazing snow day Saturday! Winter sessions up in the mountains always come with a liiiittle extra craziness - how will the roads be? will we find a plowed parking spot? will it be 10 degrees out? - but this one was MAGICAL 😍 That light at the end - amazing!! The sunset gods really were smiling on us for that one 😊 Thanks for powering through the cold, Aria, hope you love these shots as much as I do! ❄️

Last family session of the year! 🎄 It's that season where I check the weather about 20 times per day to make sure it's cooperating for photoshoots, so having an indoor backup plan like the beautiful Idaho capitol building (all decked out in colorful Christmas finery! 🎀) always makes things less stressful, especially with a forecast like last weekend's 💦 It was so good to see these guys for their annual session...and have just enough good weather for a few unexpected outdoor photos as well 😊 Here's a sneak peek!

🎶 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! 🎄 Well...at least as far as decorations go, Boise hasn't really gotten the memo about snow yet 😄 What we HAVE gotten though is a whole lotta fog...and Laney's mom and I were emailing slightly frantically day-of about whether we should postpone 😬 But like magic (a Christmas miracle!) the fog cleared out just before Laney's session and gave us the most beautiful glowy light! Combine that with Laney's gorgeous outfits (I LOVED how cheery her red top was in particular!) and we had one amazing senior session 😊 Plus she brought along a book as a prop and when I asked her what it was and her response was The Hobbit...well, I knew it was meant to be, with Lord of the Rings being pretty much my first love in life since I was 13 😁🧙‍♂️ Here's a sneak peek!

That magical moment when you get above the inversion-fog and the whole valley is an ocean of mist below you 😍☁️ It's been a rough week to find the sun so we were all THRILLED when it came out for the second half of Chaz's senior/family combo session up in the foothills of Boise! And for the rest of the photos, the always-lovely state capitol building gave us some warm holiday cheer with the poinsettia décor livening up the marble...and a great break from the bone-chilling cold outside 🥶 Here's a sneak peek!!

Happy frosty #seniorsunday with the beautiful Kaylynn! ❄️ If you've been living under a rock, Boise has been in the throws of an inversion the last week (fog trapping cold air and pollutants in the valley while the surrounding mountains are warm and sunny, more or less), which is getting old not seeing the sun for days on end, BUT it does lead to this absolutely stunning frost coating all the trees 😮 It may not be snow, but it still creates that winter wonderland vibe that makes a photoshoot just magical! 😍 Kaylynn was such a star powering through temps well below freezing, and that cozy red blanket she bundled up in a few times between photos was the perfect accessory for a cheery holiday pop of color 🎄 Here's a sneak peek from her session Friday!

When it's cold cold cold out there but you're an avid fly fisherman and your line gets caught on a branch so you have to walk out into the river to retrieve it anyway...why NOT take photos in the middle of the ice-cold water? 😄💦🥶 I'm always a big fan of bringing props to sessions, so I was thrilled Elias brought along his rod...and so impressed with his cold tolerance (and tree-climbing abilities - swipe to the end for that)! As he was telling me, he usually wouldn't be fishing in December, and if he were, he'd be in waders out in the middle of the river, buuut we didn't want to COMPLETELY freeze his toes off so we staged it a little 😁 Here's a sneak peek from this fun senior session at Barber Park yesterday!

Who says you can't get beautiful portraits after the leaves are off the trees? 😎 Busy season has steadily tapered off over the last couple weeks as fall gives way to winter, but this gorgeous family's session Saturday is proof that even in the colder months, you can still get beautiful glowy results ☀️ A sunny day and open non-treesy location like the Military Reserve sure help too 😁 Here's a sneak peek from this senior/family combo shoot! And if you like what you see and have been dragging your feet on getting a session scheduled, I still have a few dates left between now and Christmas 😊

Sunny and nearly 60 in mid-Nov with no wind?! 😮 AND leaves still on the trees?!? 🤯🍁 I was so happy Emerson and his dad were down to move their session from next week (cold...and cloudy...and bad) to yesterday and give us some of the best conditions of the week, and what a perfect day 😊 We had the best time wandering downtown through all the hidden alcoves (you see Boise in a whole new light when you're on a hunt for photoshoot locations!) and testing Emerson's balance on a couple semi-precarious ledges 😄 And that light glowing off the capitol building at the end of our session for the lacrosse photos - how cool! Look at these sweethearts 😍🍁 Last year Asher was a chubby-cheeked smiley stationary baby - this year he was a chubby-cheeked agent of chaos toddler on the run at all times 😆 His poor parents were at their wits' end doing everything they could to get Asher's attention and some giggles out of him, but kiddos are going to kiddo and this little dude was just not in the mood. So I chased him around and we did what we could, and you'd never know half our session was wailing and sighing 😄 If it ever seems like you're the only one with kids who suddenly dig in their heels just for photo day: nope! You're not ❤️ You just get to see the non-meltdown highlights from everyone else's sessions 😊 Here's a sneak peek!

Fall is still hanging on out there! 🧡🍁💛 The 2nd week of November is about the time those pretty leaves come to an end, but fortunately we haven't gotten a mega cold snap or wind storm lately and conditions by the river are still going strong...which was great news for beautiful Liv's session with her family on Saturday 😊 I was so glad she brought her cello for a few shots (2nd cellist I've gotten to photograph in a week and a half!) and that we got such an amazing sunset gracing our final photos! And mild non-windy conditions this time of year?! Yes plz, even if it meant half of Eagle was also out enjoying the beautiful day 😄 Here's a sneak peek from this lovely shoot!

Is Throwback Friday a thing? 🤔 No? Well, we're making it a thing today anyway because I've never been good at trends 😁 These guys were some of my very early clients waaaay back in 2012 (possibly from when I ran a deal on LivingSocial, which was a Groupon alternative of the time...is Groupon even still a thing?), and I was so thrilled to hear from them again and see how their family has grown! Back at our first shoot they only had little Cruz who was a year and a half at the time...and now look at them with three kiddos almost all grown up 😮 And I loved their idea of combining their own family photos with a big group family shot with their business partners, and letting each family take a few of their own shots too! A week and a half ago it was 70; now it's...snowy?

A week and a half ago it was 70; now it's...snowy?! 😱❄️🤔 Okay, maybe not totally fair comparing valley temps to up in the mountains at nearly 6000', but still, quite the change 😄 The chilly conditions and dusting of snow were perfect for senior Devin though who spends a lot of his life on the ice anyway, so he felt right at home - he didn't even take his mom up on her offer of hand warmers or a puffy jacket between shots! So glad we got a beautiful sunny non-windy day for his session yesterday 😊 Thanks for being an excellent model Devin, here's a sneak peek!

When the sky looks doomy out of nowhere and threat

When the sky looks doomy out of nowhere and threatening rain/hail and the wind gusts are gusting...but they die down just in time for a great and not TOO freezing senior session 😅 I almost thought I'd made the wrong judgment call telling Emilio and his mom our weather would be just fine yesterday, but I'm glad we went for it and didn't let the dark skies discourage us - we even got a little sunshine! ☀️ This kid has the best easy authentic smile and I was so glad Kathryn Albertson Park still had a good number of leaves left, even if you have to hunt for them in unexpected places by this time of the year 😊 Thanks Emilio for powering through the weather with grace and a positive attitude...and for even being willing to do a couple photos in short sleeves despite the temps in the 40s 🥶 Here's a sneak peek, and no I did not actually Photoshop off your mustache like your mom and I were joking about! 😆
